The Picture of the Week... What a Story...

This picture is amazing, and tells a lot as you look at it, spend some time with this one. You have to read into the photo and analyze it, but it is very interesting and tells the whole story in one shot.

This is a photo that was taken by Larry Downing from Reuters on Monday afternoon. The photo is of President Bush ducking under an electrical line while Vice Admiral of Coast Guard and official in charge of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Thad Allen uses his hat to move the wire out of the way. This was all while touring in a military vehicle in the French Quarter of New Orleans, September 12, 2005.

The more important, and telling part of the photo, is the Secret Service Agent (the tough guy with the mean scowl on his face) who picked up the wire and moved it out of the way, regardless of the potential danger. Look at Bush and Louisiana's Democratic Governor Kathleen Blanco ducking out of harms way beyond what they needed to be safe, the FEMA guy being a pansy and trying to move a potentially live wire with his fucking hat, and the Secret Service guy just doing what he needs to do to get the job done. The fact the FEMA guy is being such a pussy makes me concerned about what he will do when I need his help one day.

At least New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin isn't being such a pansy that he has to duck down 4 feet below a dead wire. Now, I am not saying Bush and Blanco should be stupid and touching all the wires and dead bodies in the area, I am just pointing out that this picture tells a bigger story that you can imagine. Bush was visiting the area for the third time since the hurricane slammed into Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama.

Maybe the Secret Service should be running FEMA? Something to think about.
